Matsushima, Miyagi
Matsushima Town sits just outside Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture and is counted among the Three Views of Japan. Roughly 260 islands are scattered across Matsushima Bay, where pine groves, rocky outcrops and sheltered water form a coastline unlike anywhere else — and the setting for YAYU’s summer SUP explorations.

Zao Onsen, Yamagata
The Zao mountains rise on the border between Yamagata and Miyagi prefectures, a short drive from Yamagata City in the Tohoku region. Winter brings heavy, reliable snowfall and the famous juhyo snow monsters — frost-encased trees — making Zao Onsen Ski Resort one of Tohoku’s landmark ski destinations.
